DG ISPR Slams Imran’s Anti-Army Comments as a Threat to the Nation
RAWALPINDI: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has described former Prime Minister Imran Khan as a threat to national security, warning that no individual will be allowed to incite the public against the armed forces.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that Khan’s “anti-army” rhetoric has crossed the boundaries of political discourse and now constitutes a direct risk to the country’s security. He emphasized that the military is obliged to act against any emerging threats to maintain national stability.
Creeping National Security Threat
The DG ISPR referred to the situation as a “creeping national security threat”, highlighting that the armed forces have identified patterns in Khan’s statements and political activities that could undermine public confidence in the military. He stressed that safeguarding the integrity and security of the nation remains the military’s paramount responsibility.
No Tolerance for Incitement Against Armed Forces
Lt Gen Chaudhry made it clear that any attempts to mobilize the public against the armed forces will not be tolerated. He underscored that the military is committed to ensuring peace and security and that measures will be taken to prevent individuals from exploiting political platforms to foment unrest.
Military’s Commitment to National Security
The DG ISPR’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the country. He reiterated that the armed forces are neutral in political matters but remain vigilant against actions or rhetoric that could threaten the nation’s stability.
